Apolipoprotein A1

Test Name

Apolipoprotein A1

Test Description

Apolipoprotein A1 is a core protein component of the high-density lipoprotein (HDL) that plays a specific role in lipid metabolism. APO A activates certain enzymes that help HDL in eliminating cholesterol from tissues and bringing them to the liver. APO A also stimulates the receptors on the liver to accept the HDL that collected cholesterol. APO A test helps in the determination of its levels in the bloodstream. The decrease in APO A levels is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.

It thus facilitates this transport which is the only means in which cholesterol can be prevented from accumulating inside of the tissues.

Anti phospholipid antibodies

Test Name

Anti phospholipid antibodies

 Test Description

Antiphospholipid antibodies are a group of antibodies classified as anti cardiolipin antibodies and the lupus anticoagulant. These antiphospholipid antibodies are directed against phospholipids, complexes formed with phospholipids, and proteins that bind with phospholipids. The antiphospholipid antibody test helps in determining the presence and levels of these antibodies in the bloodstream. These antibodies are produced in autoimmune disorder in which the immunity system attacks its normal protein in the body particularly beta-2-glycoprotein I and prothrombin.

ANA

Test Name

Anti Nuclear Antibody

Test Description

Anti Nuclear Antibodies (ANA) are a group of antibodies that are produced during an autoimmune disorder. These antibodies bind to the cell nucleus and result in inflammation response. Due to this the immune system being an attack on its own normal cells. The blood test is advised to look for the presence of antinuclear antibodies and this test is primarily used to detect autoimmune disorders. This test also helps in diagnosing systemic lupus erythmatosus (SLE).

BLOOD AMMONIA

Test Name

Blood Ammonia

Test Description

Ammonia is a nitrogen waste compound that is normally excreted in the urine. The blood ammonia test detects the presence and concentration of ammonia in the blood.  Abnormally high levels in the blood are most often caused due to liver disease or kidney failure, leading to the accumulation of ammonia in the bloodstream. It can lead to serious health problems, including brain damage, coma, and even death.

ENTAMOEBA HISTOLYTICA – IGG

Test Name

Entamoeba histolytica IgG

Test Description

Entamoeba histolytica is a parasite that causes the disease amebiasis once it enters your digestive system. The body’s immune system will initiate an immune response to this parasitic invasion and antibodies are produced. A blood test can help identify the presence and concentration of antibodies in the bloodstream to the parasite Entamoeba histolytica. A positive result for antibodies indicates that you have been infected by Entamoeba histolytica.

AMA or TPO-Ab

Test Name

Anti Microsomal Antibody

Test Description

An anti microsomal antibody (AMA) test is also called a thyroid peroxidase test (Anti-TPO). Anti TPO antibodies are the most common anti-thyroid antibody. A blood test measures presence and concentration of antithyroid microsomal antibodies secreted in your blood. Positive results may be due to some damage to the thyroid gland. High levels of anti-thyroid antibodies could be found in autoimmune thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto’s disease or Graves’ disease.

ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE

Test Name

Alkaline Phosphatase

Test Description

Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) is an enzyme most commonly found in the liver, bones, kidneys, and digestive system. It is also known as Basic Phosphatase. This test measures the ALP levels in the blood. ALP most commonly leaks into the blood stream in cases of liver damage. High ALP readings are usually recorded in patients with severe liver damage and/or any bone disorder. Doctors tend to advise additional tests such as bilirubin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), or alanine transaminase (ALT).
