Test Name
Anti Microsomal Antibody
Test Description
An anti microsomal antibody (AMA) test is also called a thyroid peroxidase test (Anti-TPO). Anti TPO antibodies are the most common anti-thyroid antibody. A blood test measures presence and concentration of antithyroid microsomal antibodies secreted in your blood. Positive results may be due to some damage to the thyroid gland. High levels of anti-thyroid antibodies could be found in autoimmune thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto’s disease or Graves’ disease.
